![]() The Holiday Season is fastly approaching, let that be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or any another traditional holiday you might celebrate. Belmont Family Dentistry would like to remind you about staying healthy safe. Here are a few tips for you to keep in mind: • Keep yourself hydrated. For all of those reindeer activities, you should try to drink plenty of fluids, especially water! :-) Water has many positive effects on your overall health. It is also a good way to prevent suffering from bad breath, as water aids in flushing out bacteria lingering in the mouth. • Reduce the intake of the holiday treats. Be aware of the amount of wine red or white. Wine contains high acidity levels that can eat away on your enamel. Also red wine can stain your teeth over time. Remember the efforts you do now will have reduce the likelihood of developing any dental issues down the road! • Veggies, veggies, veggies. Switch the brownies for the carrots. If you can't resist the brownies or the cookies, you can try a piece of cheese afterwards! Why cheese? Eating chesse inhibits the formation of new decay. Healthier options are better for your health and mouth in the long run. • Careful with your teeth. Holidays are usually the time we enjoy eating all sorts of different food. Avoid biting into nuts, or other hard-to-bite snacks like peppermint bark. This is especially important for your front teeth or if you have porcelain restorations in your mouth. Being careful will save you from being frustrated and allow you to enjoy your holiday season your loved ones! As we always say..if you can't cut it with a butter knife, don't bite into it with your front teeth! We, at Belmont Family Dentistry wish everyone a great Holiday Season and a Happy 2017!
